Brief Report given by EFLU Scholars :-
Revolving around the heyday of Globalization, the need of learning English as a language is very essential. Learning English in a country like India which is diverse in its culture and the languages spoken, acts as a catalyst to bring the people together. We might be aware that for this reason English is considered as “Associate Official Language” in India along with its National Languages. The English Language Training program conducted at Andhra Pradesh Residential Degree College, Nagarjunasagar, is an attempt to diffuse this perspective of English Knowledge to the young scholars. Research Scholars from The English and Foreign Languages University, doing research in the field of English Language Education, and with varied research interest in teaching has been approached for this Program.
For this event, these scholars were provided with food and accommodation for the duration of three months (July 2014 to September 2014). The purpose of this stay is to teach English as well as to closely study the proficiency level of the students. This data is followed by designing the English Language syllabus to the students. Great effort has been invested in order to identify the problems faced by the students in the process of learning English. And equal amount of work has been undertaken to make Language learning a stress-free activity. Mr. Sankar O, and Mr. Ramraj has designed the syllabus with various topics which includes Personality Development, Soft Skills, Advanced Language Skills, and Education Technology and so on. And the classes had been executed under the supervision of Mr. Sankar O and Mr. Srinath. The progress of the students were closely observed, and each students were made sure to get a fair chance of exhibiting their involvement in learning English. The “English Day” organized during weekends had huge response from both student and faculty members. Students and Faculty members has witnessed the overall development in the students from the start to end of the program.
The program has benefited the students both academically and personally. Students secured admission into prestigious institution for their higher studies. And many showed a consistent change in looking for substantial knowledge developing one “self”. We have documented the feedback of the students which is positive.
